Five protesters suffered non-life threatening wounds in the barrage of bullets. Scarsella's lawyers claim he opened fire in self-defense after a group of protesters rushed against him. But a video from the evening of the shooting showed Scarsella and three of his friends wearing ski masks and making racially charged comments while on their way to the protest. The men in the video flash several weapons and state they were going to have themselves "a little look" at the protests and do some "reverse cultural enriching" while there.
